The best seasons for gorilla trekking are June to September and December to February, as these two periods see the least rain in the forest region where the gorillas live. That said, you can go gorilla trekking at any time of year. And since it can and does rain at any time of year, you're never guaranteed a dry trek.

You get very dirty on a gorilla trek. This is because you're hiking through rainforest, and it's often muddy. We recommend bringing water-resistant hiking boots, long pants, and even gaiters. You can go gorilla trekking in either Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or Mgahinga National Park. Both are located in the southwest of the country. We take visitors to Bwindi, as there are more gorilla troops there.
