“At the very start itself, we knew we had found the right team and they arranged one of the best holidays of our lives. Dinesh, the main guy, was super professional and quick to respond. The plan they initially shared was so on-point that we really didn’t feel like checking other options. They also asked questions about our interests and tweaked their plan to include a few unique experiences. They went to a lot of trouble and made every day count.”
Jessica Paul, USA
Here’s who you’ll meet when you land in Sri Lanka …
Dinesh, our Sri Lankan local travel leader, organises and oversees all activity on the ground. Prior to departure we will put you into a Whatsapp group chat with him and arrange a couple of video calls. This means you can ask any questions you may have and get to know your group before the tropical island adventure begins! He knows pretty much everything there is to know about Sri Lanka and works hard to make each trip special for you.
Our local team of tour managers in Sri Lanka are street smart, fluent in English and professionals with service experience. For the entirety of your trip, you will have a designated tour manager. They will be so much more than a ‘chauffeur guide’. Instead, they will function as your Sri Lankan BFF and deliver a service comparable with a private assistant. From checking if rooms are in order, meals are up to standard or ensuring you are not getting ripped off in a local market, they will be one of the main reasons you can enjoy your holiday without any worries distracting you.
“I was assigned the most knowledgeable and friendliest of guides, who was so easy going it was like travelling with a friend… There was so much to experience and the team made sure that I had all the local knowledge so I didn’t miss a thing.” Brent Bell
So guys, the below is very much one of our sample itineraries. It features a great mix of adventure, wildlife, scenery, relaxation, food, people – basically, you name it, we have thought of it. However the real choice is yours. Join a group departure or plan something bespoke. We can arrange your dream Sri Lanka itinerary at any time to suit you, and adapted to your requirements as necessary. Just let us know if you’d like a little more of this or a little more of that, and we will see it done.
All of our Sri Lanka itinerary prices are inclusive of:
We always come prepared with a list of recommended lunch and dinner options for every location, and can arrange reservations upon request. So all you need to do is arrange your flights, visa and necessary injections. There are no hidden extras. Everything is taken care of.
Upon arrival in the capital city of Colombo, your designated tour manager will welcome you at the airport arrivals lounge. You’ll get a welcome pack containing some essentials for travel in Sri Lanka, including a local SIM card with data and voice calls. We’ll kick off the holiday by driving towards the island’s northwest corner, to a place called Kalpitiya. This place is quieter, cleaner and full of opportunities for adventure. The area is famous for kitesurfing, whale- and dolphin-watching, and water sports. We’ll have a stop for brunch and a freshen up along the way. Now you can take things slowly and settle in with a drink, or get adventurous straight away with some of the activities available in the area. Either way, an early night is encouraged given the early start the next adventure-packed day!
“A word of caution to others traveling to Sri Lanka: don’t be deceived by the size of the country – there is so much to see and do!” Jessica Paul
Today we wake up early and head off to the open seas on our private boat, to watch dolphins and whales at play. Sri Lanka is famous for its whale watching, and the coast of Kalpitiya is teeming with an abundance of dolphins. The rest of the day is available to engage in more kite surfing, cycling or a visit to the mangrove forests of Kalpitiya.
We leave for Sigiriya, which is located at the heart of the cultural triangle to have a serving of Sri Lanka’s historic marvels and wildlife. On arrival, we check-in to the hotel and then climb the famous Sigiriya Lion’s Rock with the services of a certified guide. Later, having cooled off in the pool, we will head for an amazing wildlife Safari at the Minneriya National Park where you will get to see some of Sri Lanka’s spectacular wildlife up close.
“This is a must do attraction when in Sri Lanka. Take your time to the surrounding scenery as you ascend for the ultimate reward at the top.” Rebecca Noosa
We now head to the hills after a brief stop at the UNESCO World Heritage Site which features thousands of gorgeous rock paintings and mischievous monkeys. Later on we take in the sites and sounds of Kandy; Sri Lanka’s hill capital, with a fun tuk-tuk ride. We will also visit the most sacred Temple of the Tooth and climb the Baiharawa Kanda buddha statue.
“So far this has been our tour highlight. The caves were spectacular and everyone was so interesting!” Peter Tadworth
Today we board a train that will take you through endless rolling hills carpeted in lush tea plantations and breathtaking scenery. We then hop off at Hatton and travel by road to a beautiful tea bungalow. From here we will explore a tea estate and factory. Then we’ll get some early sleep, only to wake up super early to climb the world famous Adam’s Peak.
We set off super early to climb Adam’s Peak. The climb may take a couple of hours. Once we reach the top, we will let in the sacred chants and the spirit of the mountain take over as we await the sunrise to take our breath away. Once we return to our hotel, we will take a break to celebrate the climb and the halfway point of our journey.
We are back on the road and tonight we stop at a mountain campsite. We will enjoy a full board stay here while we get our adrenaline rushing with white-water rafting, canyoning and kayaking. The area is abuzz with life, so you would no doubt enjoy a nature trail, mountain climbing and bird watching!
“My friend and I tried the rafting and canyoning, and we had the best time! The activities were so fun – and wild!!” Laura Miles
We now head down to the southern coast and the beaches of Mirissa and Weligama. The area offers some of Sri Lanka’s best beaches, great company, amazing restaurants and a vibrant night-life. The area also offers a contrast of beaches that are ideal for swimming, diving, snorkelling and surfing. There is also a variety of water sports on offer.
While you are here, we will also take you to see the famous Stilt fishermen, a turtle conservatory and a fun-filled guided tour of the historic Galle Fort! Here we will also treat you to soothing Ayurvedic massage that will help heal any aches from what has been a fun-filled yet super active holiday! Later on we drive to Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka.
As our time in Sri Lanka draws to a close, we felt it best to give you a quick taste of the city and also allow you to party one last time or grab some souvenirs. We’d be happy to take you to some of the more interesting shopping venues, restaurants and showcase some unique places such as the Red Mosque, the Galle Face Green and the Independence Sqaure.
When we become such good friends, goodbyes become see you laters as we keep the connections and memories alive.
We look forward to exploring this magical island with you!
I went on the trip to Sri Lanka and cannot thank you guys enough! I was recommended to Follow Alice by a friend and told that they organise really unique experiences that you can’t really find anywhere else – they weren’t wrong! Because they work with local guides (who are also friends) it means that the trip includes really unique features that you just wouldn’t find anywhere else – for example visiting secluded, unheard of waterfalls and amazing local restaurants. Basically stuff you just wouldn’t find in a lonely planet guide or on a trip with a larger company. Every part of the trip was thought out and perfected with small details, such as the cute welcome pack!! Thanks for helping me to discover such a beautiful country! I’ll be back for sure 🙂
Everyday in Sri Lanka was amazing in not just the things we saw and did but the thought that had gone into them. They even had considered giving us universal power sockets so everywhere we go, we did not have to worry about plugging our devices. Frankly this is what a holiday should be like. We had to wake up and just enjoy the day. No stressing about what time to leave, when to go, what to do.
On the road we had the services of Naswar! He was basically our baby sitter and everything that was planned and organised was done to perfection. Slowing down when we got a bit tired, adding new features when we felt like we were in the mood for more.
A word of caution to others traveling to Sri Lanka. Don’t be deceived by the size of the country. There is just so much to see and do. Also watch what your plans really include. Do not compare apples to oranges and be disappointed. Work with locals and respect their opinions and listen to their advice.
When you come back from a trip with a big contagious smile on your face you know! the Followalice Sri Lanka discovery makes that magic happen!
Dinesh & his team, Irosh and Naswar were more than guides, with them you truly discover the “hidden gems” of such a magical place that will make you want to go back!
We had a rich and full schedule but thanks to their professionalism and incredible positive spirit we had the feeling of ease and relaxation all along. It was all simply perfect!

Lovely island that got it all. Great value for money and awesome mix of culture, sport, nature, wildlife, beach, going out.. <3
Follow Alice really know how to pull of a personalised adventure!! We went to Sri Lanka and had the BEST time. They really hone in on the details and understand that the little things are what make a trip memorable. We were in a whatsapp chat prior to the trip with Reto and the team which meant organising and asking any questions we had was simple and efficient. We also had a video chat with the whole team which was fun and got us super excited.
Sri Lanka is such a varied destination that really surpassed my expectations when it came to the variety of adventure, culture – and amazingggg food! I really wanted to see the Elephants and get close to nature – the elephant safari was my fave!
