Sri Lanka is the perfect year-round destination. It has a tropical and warm climate. The best time to visit the west and south coasts and the hill country is from December to March. You need to purchase an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) visa before heading to Sri Lanka. The visa is for 30 days. You can learn more at eta.gov.lk.

There are no mandatory vaccinations for visiting Sri Lanka. That said, please speak to your GP about your travel plans.

Standard precautions for visitors to Sri Lanka include being vaccinated against tetanus, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, rabies and typhoid. Sri Lanka also has a low risk of malaria and Japanese encephalitis infections.

Finally, you'll need to present proof of a yellow fever vaccination if you're travelling from a country with a known transmission risk (or you had a layover in such a destination that lasted longer than 12 hours).
