Kilimanjaro sits within Kilimanjaro National Park. Often, however, you see photos of wildlife like elephants and giraffes in front of Kilimanjaro, and these are usually taken from Amboseli National Park across the border in Kenya.

How do I get to Kilimanjaro?

As you can see in the map above, the nearest airport to Mt Kilimanjaro is Kilimanjaro International Airport.

For most people flying into East Africa, you'll transit to Kilimnjaro Airport via Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, or Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Kilimanjaro Airport is on the outskirts of the city of Arusha. You can stay in Arusha before and after visiting Kilimanjaro, but the closest city to Kilimanjaro is actually Moshi. This is where we at Follow Alice host clients, as you're then nearer to the mountain and have a shorter commute before and after your Kilimanjaro climb with us.
