We require Travel insurance as a condition for booking with us. Even though we run all trips on the highest possible safety standards, there is always a small probability on active holidays that something can happen. Even if it’s just a sprained ankle, if you are on top of Kilimanjaro you might be glad to be insured. It’s nowadays possible to get insurance inexpensive in a couple of minutes with great coverage. Better be safe than sorry.
When travelling on a trip with us, we will ask you for the details of your travel insurance and the insurance company’s 24 hour emergency contact number has to be seen by your leader. If you have credit card insurance your group leader will require details of the participating insurer/underwriter, the level of coverage, policy number and emergency contact number rather than the bank’s name and credit card details. Please contact your bank for these details prior to arriving in-country.
When selecting a travel insurance policy we require that at a minimum you are covered against personal accident, death, medical expenses and emergency repatriation with a recommended minimum coverage of USD 200,000 for each of the categories of cover.
We also recommend that the policy covers personal liability, loss of luggage / personal effects and potentially cancellation / curtailment. This may cover penalties in certain circumstances if you have to cancel your trip unexpectedly due to illness, injury or unforeseen circumstances.
You may wish to consider getting a quote through our travel insurance partner below who is able to offer comprehensive yet affordable insurance. Other providers are for instance Travel Guard or any other insurer of your choice.
We personally always use World Nomads
