Itinerary
Day 1 |
Arrival dayDay 1 |
Arrival dayWe fetch you from Kilimanjaro International Airport and head straight to our hotel in the pretty little town of Moshi. We have dinner together and Kazi shares the details of the plan for the upcoming days. Then it's time to get in some good sleep before we embark on our first game drive tomorrow morning!
Day 2 |
Game drive in TarangireDay 2 |
Game drive in TarangireAfter breakfast we head to a luxury tented camp just outside of Tarangire. And then it's safari time! Tarangire is renowned for its enormous elephant herds, so have the wide angle ready on your camera. Also look for lions, giraffes, hippos, leopards, warthogs ... the list goes on. Another winning aspect of the park is its iconic baobab trees. And then there are its massive, red-earth termite mounds!
Day 3 |
Head to SerengetiDay 3 |
Head to SerengetiToday we strike out for Serengeti. This is a fabulous drive, as the views are second to none. En route, we stop at Ngorongoro Crater to let you gaze on the massive depression that has become a true wildlife haven. There's also the option of visiting a Maasai village, which is a rich cultural experience we highly recommend. As we head to our camp in central Serengeti, the game spotting begins!
Day 4 |
North SerengetiDay 4 |
North SerengetiToday we explore more of the magnificent Serengeti. We head a little further north into the park, where you can see the enormous herds of the Great Migration at certain times of year. This is the world's largest land-based animal migration, and you can't really appreciate the magnitude of the spectacle unless you're there in person. This is Top 10 Bucket List stuff!
Day 5 |
Great MigrationDay 5 |
Great MigrationWe enjoy another great safari game drive in northern Serengeti today. This is the section of the park that sees the famously mayhemic river crossings of the wildebeest and zebra herds of the Great Migration. They sense the danger, and plunge across as quickly as they can. But the stampede, the river current and the hungry crocodiles are formidable foes, and thousands don't make it across alive!
Day 6 |
Ngorongoro walking safariDay 6 |
Ngorongoro walking safariThis morning we wend our way south towards our lodge at Ngorongoro Crater. Ngorongoro, like the Serengeti, is home to the Big Five, so always keep your eyes open and your binoculars ready. There's the option in the afternoon of a walking safari along an upper contour path of the Ngorongoro Crater – we highly recommend this! You could even bump into some local Masaai herding cattle.
Day 7 |
Ngorongoro game driveDay 7 |
Ngorongoro game driveThis is an epic day, as we drive down into Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive like no other. From the rim of the crater, the savannah and woodlands below look empty. But once you descend, you realise just how abundant the animals are. Expect herds of zebras, buffaloes, various antelopes and elephants, prides of lions, bloats of hippos and stands of flamingoes in the lake, as well as giraffes, hyenas, rare black rhinos, and more!
Day 8 |
Olmoti Crater hikeDay 8 |
Olmoti Crater hikeToday we do something few include in their Tanzania safari but is a real treat: hike to the floor of Olmoti Crater! This is a chance to see some wildlife up close, and moreover it's a truly beautiful hike. You're also likely to see some Maasai and their cattle in the area. The crater floor is bisected by a valley river, and you can hike to see pretty Munge Waterfall if you choose.
Day 9 |
Departure dayDay 9 |
Departure dayToday it's time to drive you to Kilimanjaro International Airport and say our farewells and see-you-soon's. Everyone heads off with shared memories of an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime adventure!
